So how we found this place is an interesting story. We were going to eat at another Asian restaurant. But ironically, they were closed (it was on a Tuesday afternoon). So we found Hunan Chef near by. The place was small and to me, that means it will be nice and the food comes sooner. The Hostess was also very polite. My mother loves lemon chicken. And they had it. My favorite is the crab cheese rangoons. The cool part was that it was served with a yellow sauce that kinda tasted like a sweeter version of honey mustard. The sesame chicken I had was good too. All in all I'm glad we found Hunan Chef. Totally recommend it.
Good food worth a try
We have been going to this place, or getting take out, about once a month for years and it has been our favorite Chinese food. However, the last few times we have gotten their food, both togo, it has not been good. In today's order, my wonton soup was so salty, I couldn't eat it. And I like salty food. My wife's egg drop soup was almost as thick as jello. We ordered our combination fried rice extra spicy and it was as bland as can be. The beef with broccoli was bland as well. The mustard was watered down and not very spicy. The egg rolls were super oily and didn't have much flavor at all.We are very sad that our favorite place for Chinese food has fallen so hard. Guess we will have to find another place because we don't plan to ever eat here again.
I was craving Asian/Chinese food and this place came up. I was very iffy because it’s such a small place and nobody was in there but not was I wrong to second guess it. I got the sweet and sour chicken and it was amazing egg drop soup was good as well. 10/10 would recommend!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great food!! Everytime I visit the food is fantastic!
We have been dining here since they opened. There have been highs and there have been less memorable dinners. But they are the Best of Chinese-inspired eateries in this town. The duck w/ginger sauce delights with texture and taste.
Great neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The food is consistently good and fresh, and prices are reasonable. The combination fried rice is excellent.
Good Americanized Chinese food; basic menu and affordable. The owners are good people always willing to chat with their customers.
I have eat there before and it's always been average....tonight it was deplorable!!! I ordered garlic beef combo. The was practically no sauce to speak of. The fried rice was not fried rice. It was basically sticky rice with soy sauce poured on it...this rice never touch a hot wok...no scallions, peas carrot bits.. etc..it was lumpy with cold spots in it. The two dipping containers were literally empty as in nothing in either...as if they had been used. This is absolutely the last visit there.
Best Chinese food I have found in this area
The egg rolls are flaky and the pork wontons are more pork than breading, which I was pleasantly surprised by. The sweet and tangy shrimp is a lot of food with pretty big shrimp that were juicy. The food was not overly spicy, and with their special spicy sauce (horseradish or wasabi base) on the side, it caters to anyone who likes it hot. I will definitely be visiting this cozy get away restaurant again.
Usually order delivery. We ALWAYS ask for fried rice and even offer to pay more for it. But EVERY TIME, EVERY TIME, they only give us white rice with some soy sauce tossed on it, like we can't tell the difference. We are NEVER using your establishment again.
Never again. ordered through seamless and asked for extra chasews on my meal and received peanuts which I'm allergic to. plus kids meals had a must select drink option whiteout indication of an extra charge.at some point after I picked up the order I find an adjustment email in my inbox informing me of extra charges for cashew and drinks.I wouldn't mind the extra charge for the cashews, if I had received them.catastrophic experience. had some of my wife's food and she tried mine both bland and barely edible.first and last time
I ordered the letruce wraps on a Saturday. Great food and fast service. The price is good, too.
Best Chinese place ever!! Been going since I was a kid.
Decent prices but they add stuff that you might not want and dont give you the option to take things out such as shrimp, chicken, or vegetables in their rice or chow mein. The chow mein was absolutely nothing like what I expected and had no noodles, just fried crisps on top. I'm definitely not ordering here again. Also, if you are a hot and sour soup lover, this isn't the place to go.
I have been coming here since 2004 (it is 2019 right now). And the food is still as fresh as always. My Chicken Szechuan was great, fresh vegetables, fresh chicken, and the rice was delicious too. Oh yeah, there was an egg roll or 2, and man they are delicious. My partner has Sweet and Sour Pork. He’s picky with sweet and sour sauce, but again, it was fresh and not prepared ahead of time. Even the duck sauce and Chinese mustard was fresh. And staff hasn’t really changed, stability is the key. And they are the best in Cedar Park! #I’llBeBack
Sum of the Chinese food ever. I travel from Lampasas to eat here. Great service as well.
Great food for the price and the people are very friendly, im definitely going back and soon!
Food was delicious and I really liked their egg rolls.
Food is fantastic. Owner greets and thanks all guests
Very good shrimp in lobster sauce.
Loved it! 10/10 would recommend.
This rude staff has no regard for public safety. Came across a female staff driver, and she cut me off at a turning intersection and made me drive up on the curb to avoid a collision.
This restaurant is one of my favorites in Cedar Park. The quality is amazing and it's a great family owned place that has been around long enough to prove just that. Great job chef.
This place has always been our go to for great food and great service. The service is still wonderful but there seems to have been a change in the way things are being prepared. Their egg rolls were my family's absolute favorite thing there and when we ordered last night, they were very very different. My husband still likes them, but the rest of us were unable to eat them. Their wonton soup has changed, but it's still great, as is their egg drop soup. I just really wish they would go back to the way it was before. I miss my old favorites.
Horrible service.
The service was great but the flavor of the food was awful. I ordered the beef and broccoli and the sauce tasted scorched, the beef tasted like rubber and the fried rice was overcooked. I will never eat there again.
Overpriced for lunch and small portions
Been in Austin area, Lago Vista, a few months and this place, by far; price, food quality, service, and no frills enviroment has been one of my favorites. Will be back for sure.
Food here is delicious! Service is great!
Service was great, attentive & very friendly. Fried rice was dry & bland, sweet & sour shrimp was 90% batter & 1 very little salad shrimp, fried wonton was just that a wonton fried. Egg drop soup was delicious, this was not our first visit, but we won't go back
Always delicious food and amazing service!
A real favorite of ours ever since we moved to Cedar Park 7 years ago.
Good Chinese food place in Cedar Park.
Stopped in a couple weeks ago and I’m back. So I can say the food is good! Service was great. Me and my wife will be regulars from now on.
Best fresh food for many years now
Just had lunch delivered, chicken and shrimp with schezuan sauce was great.
Absolutely the best Chinese food in the Cedar park area! Their food is always fresh and they have the best egg drop as well.
Had supper there yesterday(9/20/19). The food was okay. Huge plate of food but the ratio of protein to water chestnuts was sad. There was also an odd after taste.
My husband and I drive 45 minutes to eat here and it’s worth every mile I promise. Food is delicious and at a great price. The female owner is so kind and goes above and beyond customer service. Seriously, just eat here and you’ll see.
This was our first time and we were very happy. The egg drop soup was just right, not sweet. The egg rolls were delicately crisp and delicious. Our sesame chicken and seafood with crispy noodles and veggies was very satisfying and full of flavor. We’ll come again and again!
Had a lunch special the first time, pretty good food. Placed a delivery order the following week expecting the same. Paid $50 to wait an hour and a half for cold, soggy food. Not even an apology, just "Yeah, we were busy tonight." I live 10 minutes away...
Been coming here for a long time. Service and food excellent.
New chef outstanding best ever beef and broccoli
This place sucks i order moo goo giapan it was awfull taste and real bad. Combination fried rice just as bad. I call the restaurant and said thats how they cook it. Bring it back and replace it but wantes me to back the keal to see how much i ate. No credit was afford. Bad restaurant. Please do not order to go. .
Hunan Chef is my neighbor now, and I go to here a lot with my co-workers especially for to go due to time limitation of my work. The food is great! Authentic Chinese cuisine and the staff is great as well! The to go service is rapid, just takes few minutes, and ready to go!My must-go place!
Finally found a place with good lemon chicken that is close by. Me and my girls loved it. The sesame chicken was pretty good too, but that's all we had. We will return. Wish they could do more for contactless pickup but small business has it tough enough right now.
Very tasty food and good service. I have been going there for nearly a decade and I have never had a complaint
Very nice clean environment food was very good service was very good and friendly. Staff was personable with customers and polite. Prices are reasonable.
